BMW WHEEL REFERENCE GUIDE
OEM vs Replica BMW Wheels
Appearance alone cannot establish origin. Some replicas closely resemble BMW designs, while refinishing can obscure or alter visible markings.
1. Inspect permanent markings
Photograph the rear face, hub pad, spoke backs, size and ET markings, manufacturer marks, approval marks, and any BMW part number.
2. Verify the part number independently
Match the full part number to the design and dimensions. A photographed or typed number is evidence to verify, not automatic proof of authenticity.
3. Evaluate condition separately
OEM origin does not make a bent, cracked, welded, heavily machined, or poorly refinished wheel safe. Ask a qualified wheel specialist to inspect uncertain wheels.
