BMW Wheel Style Identification Guide
A visual match is a useful lead, not a final identification. BMW wheels with similar spoke layouts may differ in diameter, width, offset, finish, axle position, or part number.
1. Start with the back of the wheel
Photograph every casting and stamp before cleaning or refinishing it. Look for an eleven-digit BMW part number, wheel dimensions, offset marked ET, and manufacturer markings.
2. Record the complete dimensions
Diameter alone is not enough. Keep width, diameter, offset, bolt pattern, center bore evidence, and any front or rear designation together.
3. Compare several visual details
Count spokes, inspect the center area, note whether spokes meet the rim edge, and compare the valve position and sculpting. Do not identify a wheel from one distant photograph.
4. Confirm against a wheel record
Use the style library to compare photographs and documented specification rows. Treat missing fields as unknown rather than filling them from a similar-looking style.
